Giacometti Old Master Paintings will participate to the new digital edition of TEFAF from September 9–13, 2021, with an invitation-only preview event on September 8, 2021.
Over 250 world-class exhibitors will show up to three artworks that tell a single, compelling story when in conversation with one another.
We are pleased to present a triptych of “Battle Scenes without a Hero” according to the famous formula coined by Saxl. A rare canvas by Aniello Falcone is accompanied on the two sides by two tondi on copper in pendant. The first, also a work by Falcone, is the only pictorial document of the implementation by the master of the precious support; the second is a work by Andrea De Leone, his most loyal pupil and colleague. The first monograph exhibition dedicated to Aniello Falcone – who led a whole school of genre painting specialists such as Salvator Rosa and Domenico Gargiulo, Luca Forte and Paolo Porpora – will be held in the Complesso Monumentale di Donnaregina – Museo Diocesano in Naples (September 28, 2021- January 8, 2022). The three paintings here presented will be featuring on loan in the exhibition.
